LISA HACKEL, PH.D.
Since completing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at New York University, I have worked in health care settings (pediatrics and infertility) as well as in private practice, treating a wide variety of children, adults, and families.
I have a long standing interest in working with people who are navigating a life transition or stressful period, including separation and divorce, health related challenges, and work or relationship difficulties. I believe that during difficult times therapy can help people draw on their strengths, improve coping strategies, and gain an understanding of themselves and their situation.
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
I have extensive experience and training as a Family Mediator, specifically in the areas of divorce and custody issues. I am a Child Specialist in the divorce mediation process and offer Coparenting Counseling that helps separating and divorced parents communicate more effectively in making decisions about their children. In my role as a Parenting Coordinator, I work with parents in high conflict situations to help them implement their parenting plans and focus on the developmental needs of their kids.
I have a Certificate in Bioethics and Medical Humanities and teach Bioethics to medical students at the Albert Einstein Medical School, where I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health. I have worked extensively throughout my career with individuals and families who are experiencing serious health challenges, loss and grief.
