Psychotherapy

As a clinical psychologist I have over 25 years of experience working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, life transitions and family conflicts. I believe that part of my role as a therapist is to help people understand their own stories, examining patterns of behavior and exploring important relationships in their lives. The work is facilitative and collaborative and supports individual strengths that can lead to positive change and more satisfying lives.

PSYCHOTHERAPY RELATED TO SEPARATION AND DIVORCE

The breakup of a marriage is a stressful life event that can also trigger deeper personal issues, making it hard to navigate the divorce process. I work with individuals who are seeking help with the myriad of issues that arise during and after a divorce.

COPING WITH ILLNESS AND CAREGIVER SUPPORT

Serious illness and chronic debilitating physical conditions take a toll on one’s emotional well-being. Individuals often feel isolated as they attempt to cope with their symptoms and fears while trying to function in their lives. I work with clients to develop strategies that build on their strengths as they navigate the physical challenges they face.

Many individuals and families today are stressed by the demands of caring for ill relatives, including elderly parents or a spouse or child with a serious illness. These caregivers often put their own needs behind those of their ill family members, leading to symptoms of depression and anxiety. Therapy can help identify their thoughts and feelings, strengthen their coping skills, and employ problem-solving strategies to define ways to help them meet their own needs while they continue to care for others.
